Hi, I’m Dr. Basima Mohamed
I am a Somali American mother, writer, educator, and researcher drawn to the way stories shape how we learn, heal, and grow.
My work lives where community meets memory,
where culture meets healing,
and where personal narratives become sources of connection, clarity, and belonging.
Through grounding story circles and reflective workshops, I help individuals and teams slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with themselves and one another.
If you’re ready to bring grounding, connection, and meaning into your space, I’m ready to partner with you.
My Approach
Grounding & Presence
My approach is slow, intentional, and grounding. I guide people into a softer pace so they can hear themselves more clearly. Through breath, sensory awareness, and gentle pacing, I create spaces where the nervous system can settle and stories can rise without force.
Memory, Identity & Story
I work at the intersection of memory, identity, and story. Drawing from my background in neuroeducation and Family Science, I weave together reflective writing, guided prompts, and communal storytelling to help people make meaning of the experiences that shaped them. Every circle becomes an invitation to remember, reconnect, and reflect.
Culturally Rooted & Human-Centered Facilitation
My approach is culturally grounded and community-centered. I hold space with care, honoring the wisdom people bring with them. Whether I am working with students, educators, community groups, or organizations, my focus remains the same: to cultivate connection, belonging, and clarity through story.
My Why
Personal & Cultural Roots
I believe stories are seeds—small truths that shape who we are and who we become. Growing up between cultures taught me that stories carry our memory, our healing, and our sense of belonging. This work is my way of honoring the communities that raised me, the experiences that guided me, and the stories that shaped my identity.
Purpose & Service
Story work is more than creativity; it is care, clarity, and connection. Story circles make heavy topics easier to unpack, offering a safe and grounded space for reflection and honest dialogue. In classrooms, communities, and teams, this work strengthens belonging, deepens communication, and supports emotional well-being. My purpose is to help individuals and groups reconnect with themselves—and with one another—through the simple, powerful act of sharing their stories.
